Admission Policy for Bachelor's Programmes

The admission policy in place at K.U.Leuven is intended to ensure equal opportunity of access to higher education for qualified Belgian students. In principle, the university applies the same policy to its international students, though there are some additional requirements designed to maximize their chances of success at K.U.Leuven.

By law, anyone holding a Flemish secondary-school diploma from a recognised education institution in Flanders, Belgium may register directly for a bachelor's degree programme with no further formalities, though some programmes have an entrance examination (medicine and dentistry). Of course, most international students will have a diploma from abroad; to be admitted to K.U.Leuven, their foreign diplomas must be accepted as equivalent.

In deciding whether or not to accept students holding a foreign diploma, the university considers whether that diploma would give access to university-level studies in their home country.

More information about admissions is available from the International Admissions and Mobility Unit.
