Admission Policy for Master's programmes

K.U.Leuven must comply with Flemish Government legislation regarding admission to guarantee the legality of its diplomas. This in mind, the admission policy in place at K.U.Leuven is intended to ensure equal opportunity of access to higher education for qualified Belgian students. In principle, the university applies the same policy to its international students, though there are some additional requirements designed to maximize their chances of success at K.U.Leuven.

Students should be aware of the specific requirements for each programme, which are listed by faculty in the programme overview. Some programmes have a limited number of places and are very selective in admitting students. Examinations, interviews, project proposals, aptitude tests, and letters of recommendation may form part of the admission process. Together, these provisions make admission to K.U.Leuven's international master's programmes quite competetive. All of these provisions may be cumulative: even if an applicant is eligible, for example, from a strictly legal perspective, admission may still be denied for academic or other reasons. In general, the university will assess students for admission individually on the basis of their previous academic record and qualifications.

More information about admissions is available from the International Admissions and Mobility Unit.
