As Trauma remains the leading cause of death in patients aged 45 or less, the care for the injured remains one of the most important tasks of the modern medical community. Beside mortality the handicaps resulting out of traffic, domestic, sports related and working place accidents is an important challenge for both the medical and socio-political communities. The Belgian Trauma Society wants to participate in the stimulation of scientific research concerning the prevention and care of injuries as in the organization of the care for the injured.
