History and aims

The Belgian Trauma Society (BTS) (the former Belgische Vereniging voor Traumatologie) has been founded in November 1993 as the first subsociety of the Royal Belgian Society for Surgery. The aim of the BTS is to promote the interest in and knowledge of trauma surgery. The BTS wants to assemble surgeons, who are involved in the treatment of trauma victims

The activities of the BTS include:

  • the organization of scientific meetings

  • the assistance at national or international scientific initiatives focused on traumatology

  •   the  improvement of the  contacts between colleagues and other organizations with similar aims

  • the  promotion of  scientific traumatological inquiries and the publication  of the results

  • the  enunciation of  its opinion about traumatological subjects.

We invite surgeons and trainees with interest in traumatology to become member of the society. Non-surgeons interested in traumatology are welcomed as extra-ordinary members.

Founding Members:
C.Aelvoet, M. Bronckaers, P. Broos, M.Focquet, J.Populaire, P.Quisthoudt, P.Rommens, J.Rumbaut, G.Vanlaer.
