Gifts from China

On 8 October, Vice-President Xi Jinping (centre) of China visited K.U.Leuven to present an important donation to the Chinese digital collection of the East-Asian Library. Thanks to this gift of more than 20,000 e-book titles, the importance of Leuven’s Chinese collection has increased considerably. Rector Mark Waer (right) and Professor Nicolas Standaert (Sinology Department - not pictured) accepted the gift, which surpasses all previous donations from China, on behalf of the university community. On the occasion of the vice-president’s visit, a Chinese trade delegation also visited the city and the university.
