Joris Boonen is a PhD student and joined the Centre for Citizenship and Democracy in 2011. His research focuses mainly on the intergenerational transmission of political attitudes and party preferences. Parents are considered to be (one of) the most influential political socialization agents. The question is to what extent the interpersonal interactions between parents and young adolescents can determine party preferences and ideological orientations in a varying multi-party setting.
