Larynx reconstruction

Postoperative feeding

Oral feeding will be difficult for 5 to 7 days after the first and second operation. Enteral feeding will be provided by a gastric tube. Alternatively, a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy will be placed during the first operation.

A gastric tube with a small diameter is placed.

a. The scope is introduced and the abdominal wall is transilluminated by the scope for positioning of the percutaneous needle (1).

b. The needle is inserted percutaneously into the stomach (2). A guidewire is passed through the needle and pulled out the mouth with the endoscope (3).

c. The gastrostomy tube is pulled over the guidewire (inside to outside) (4).

d. Gastric tube in place.
