Experimental Research

The Center strives to advance the knowledge of laryngotracheal reconstruction through research. The reconstructive concepts for larynx and trachea repair were developed in a rabbit model. Emphasis was put on the blood supply of the reconstructive tissue. The lateral thoracic fascia flap was developed to be used as vascular supply for the reconstructive tissue. The clinical counterpart for the lateral thoracic fascia flap is the radial forearm fascia flap.
