Concert for the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year at K.U.Leuven On 26 September 2011, we will welcome the Orchestre National de Lille to the opera house in Leuven. Conducted by Pascal Rophé, the orchestra will perform an entirely French programme with music by Debussy, Ravel and Françaix. In the jazz-flavoured ‘Piano Concerto’ by Ravel, profound dialogue between the young French pianist Jean-Frédéric Neuburger and the wind instruments will be set between two surprising, fanciful movements. By contrast, daring chords, ‘unheard-of’ instrumental combinations and brilliant orchestrations will appeal to your imagination in the famous ‘La Mer’ by Debussy.
