UUR KULtUUR
UUR KULtUUR presents culture in all its facets. Enjoy performances by hotshots and become acquainted with lesser-known programmes. Performance, jazz, pop, classical music, dance, theatre, exhibitions – they all have one thing in common: originality.
Attendance is free with a K.U.Leuven Culture Card, non-holders must pay an entrance fee as of this academic year. Sometimes the space is limited space so make sure to be on time.

Opening UUR KULtUUR: Twisted Melon

‘Bringing rock ’n’ roll back to the dance floor’, Twisted Melon couldn’t have chosen a better motto. This Leuven-based collective is bring- ing together an absolutely amazing line-up for the Opening UUR KULtUUR. DJs The Hickey Underworld (Younes Faltakh and Jonas Govaerts), Paul Gallagher (UK, brother of Liam and Noel), The Van Jets (Wolfgang Vanwymeersch and Michael Verschaeve) and Drew McConnell (UK, Babyshambles) guarantee a great party. The best pop and rock tracks of the past 50 years will blow you away. Don’t miss this!

Goeyvaerts Happening – Unique portrait of a composer

Karel Goeyvaerts – who hasn’t heard of him? In composers’ circles, probably everyone has, but beyond that his reputation is rather limited. Passion for this important Flemish composer is bringing Champ d’Action, Danel Kwartet, Jan Michiels and Inge Spinette together on the stage.

‘Mayombe. Masters of Magic’

‘Mayombe. Master of Magic’ presents fantastic images and objects from the Congolese art collection of K.U.Leuven, the Université catholique de Louvain and the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren. M is exhibiting these valuable pieces together for the first time ever. The meaning and captivating beauty of the ritual objects is the main focus of the exhibition.

Concert Silver Junkie

Silver Junkie, the alter ego of singer-songwriter Tino Biddeloo, was influenced by various people and styles: from Tom Waits and Tindersticks to Astor Piazzola and everything in between. Biddeloo and band transport you from genre to genre effortlessly. Though it may be cold outside, the subtle encounters between jazz, tango, blues, rock and fado will make it feel like a balmy summer night.
