Biography
 

Dirk Lips was born in St.-Amandsberg in 1967. He is married to Karen Belaen and God has entrusted Thomas, Servaas, Emiel and Ivo to their love.
He has a Bachelor's degree in philosophy (1988), a Master's degree in religious studies (1992) and a Master's degree in theology (1994). Since 1995 he teaches Religion, Agricultural Ethics and Ethology at the Katholieke Hogeschool St.-Lieven in Gent.
As a result of a cooperation of KaHO St.-Lieven and CABME, he became a member of CABME and did his doctoral research at CABME (completed in 2004). In 2005 he was appointed professor at the K.U.Leuven, where he teaches Social Aspects of Techology and Ethics.
In 2001 he became a member of the board of DP21, in 2003 member of the steering committee of the National Board for Animal Welfare, in 2004 chairman of the ethical commission of the Vlaamse Rundveeteelt Vereniging (VRV), in 2005 president of Vilt and the head of departement of the KaHo Sint-Lieven at Sint-Niklaas and in 2006 president of Boeren Op Een Kruispunt. As from March 2009 he is chairman of the Board for Animal Welfare.
