The EEN endeavours to address fundamental ethical
questions and reflections via conferences, dialogue, seminars, publications
lectures and research. Thes multi-dimensional initiatives in ethics
education will culminate in a European Ethics summit on The
Human Project after Humanism, which will take place in
Strasbourg in September 2002 with the participation of all the European
ethics societies, associated professional organisations and many
European institutions.
CORE MATERIALS PROJECT
"The ethics of responsibility must become
an integral part of basic education and the training of researchers"
(White Paper on Teaching and Learning: Toward the Learning
Society) The core materials project was
initiated in 1997 aiming at the development of basic texts and pedagogical
materials for academics engaged in the teaching of ethics. This
has resulted in very successful collaborations among ethicists who
have been cooperating on themes such as general professional ethics,
business ethics, engineering ethics, bioethics, media ethics and
environmental ethics. The work of these ethics teams has resulted
in the production of books which offer fundamental educational frameworks
and background information which allow profesoors and teachers to
improve their courses and to adapt them to local situations.
EUROPE IN SEARCH OF SOUL
"The greatest asset of any nation is the
spirit of its people and the greatest danger that can menace it is
the breakdown of that spirit" Ultimately
the Network is a shared adventure in rediscovering the soul of Europe
in the midst of technological, scientific and economic globalisation. |
