When getting to Leuven ...

When arriving in Belgium by plane at Brussels International Airport, information about how to travel to and from the Airport can be found on the Brussels Airport Official Website. The easiest way to travel to Leuven is by train or by taxi.

Taxis (metered) are available outside the Arrivals Hall. Licensed taxis can be identified by the yellow and blue license emblem. It is advised to avoid unlicensed taxis. A one-way taxi ride Brussels Airport-Leuven or Leuven- Brussels Airport costs approximately 60 €.

The railway station at Brussels International Airport is located in the basement (level -1) of the terminal building itself. Although Leuven is situated only 20 km from Brussels International Airport, there are no direct train connections from the Airport to Leuven. The Airport City Express brings you to Brussels North railway station in less than twenty minutes four times an hour. At Brussels North you can catch an Intercity (IC) train with final stop at Eupen, Genk, Tongeren or Liege Guillemins, and step off in Leuven after approximately 25 minutes. Timetable information for the whole of Belgium (and international trains) is available in Dutch, English, French and German on the Belgian Railways website. You can enter "Zaventem Airport" as the departure station and "Leuven" as the destination station and when asked to choose between "Zaventem" and "Zaventem Airport" you must select "Zaventem Airport".

A one-way ticket Brussels Airport-Leuven costs 4,80 € second class. Note that prices and timings mentioned above are subject to change without prior notice. Please always consult the Belgian Railways website for up-to-date information. You may also buy your ticket online.

The railway station of Leuven is situated at less than 1 km from the City centre. The meeting site is within walking distance of the railway station (about 1 km). Leaving Leuven Central Station just walk straight across into the Bondgenotenlaan. You will be at the City Hall in 15 to 20 minutes. Most of the bus connections of 'De Lijn' in and around Leuven have a stop at the railway station and pass through the City centre. For transportation from the railway station to the meeting place it is advised to make use of any bus connection and step off at the 'Foch plein', just in front of the church (Treasury of Saint-Peter!) or the City Hall, from where it is just a 5-10 min. walk to the congress venue.
