iCare - English
Heart on your sleeve? Heart for the cause!
iCare, held during the Week of the Volunteer, is organised by University Plus in collaboration with Serve The City. The goal of this effort is to motivate as many students as possible to lend a helping hand to people in need, at home and abroad.
This year, in addition to supporting social organisations and charities in Leuven, iCare is urging the university community to help raise money for kiva.org, an organisation that provides microcredit to small-scale business that do not have access to traditional sources of credit.
How will iCare raise money for this worthy cause? We are asking the university's departments and faculties to place work orders for odd jobs, for which iCare volunteers can sign up to complete. The payment for a job well done will then be donated to kiva.org. To place a work order or to sign up for an odd job, see the links at left.
This university-wide effort can only succeed if enough odd jobs are posted. Does your faculty, department or office have some handiwork that iCare volunteers can do? Classrooms to paint, courtyards to spruce up, rooms to clear out, equipment to move, libraries to tend, etc.? Then place a work order today!
