Listening to jazz music does not require an expertise knowledge of jazz
names and styles, necessary to buy the right CD's or disks. Turning on
the radio and a little frequency searching will do.
Classic radio stations serve jazz lovers every week by playing jazz music,
providing information on concerts and talking to jazz artists.
Student Jazz projects are running not only in Brussels, but also in Hasselt
and Namur.

Radio: RTBF La première
"Le grand jazz" is presented by Phillipe
Baron, every weekday from 23.10 to 24.00.
This show offers jazz classics of American and Belgian origin. Maison
du Jazz (Liege) and Médiatèque participate the show by
giving access to their archives. The classic jazz repertoire is re-create
by
today's musicians. The jazz page on the RTBF site offers detailed information
on the records played during the program and a calendar on upcoming concerts.
"Jazz bleu noir" is also broadcasted on La Première
by Malika Ben Brahim. This two-hour show can be listened to every Sunday
from 22.00 to 24.00. The show features on the one hand vocal jazz performed
by crooners and talented ladies and on the other hand instrumental music
ranging from jazz to funk and rap, to world music. The jazz colored program
also informs on new records and highlights important and relevant moments
from the past. Playlists can be found on the jazz page under La Première
WE.

RTBF Musique 3
Musique 3 fills its airtime with jazzy tunes every
weekday from 18.15 to 19.00. In "Jazz" Philippe Baron brings
the listeners the newest jazz music, excerpts of concerts by the RTBF,
interviews and the
concert calendar.
The website: RTBF offers the opportunity to listen to the online version
of Jazz, realtime through MP3 streaming. Appropriate software is requested.
