WNUR

WNUR has a radio station on 89.3 FM which is a Chicago's sound experiment. The project contains WNURJAZZ, a jazz show on air every weekday from 5.00 AM to 12.30 PM CST (continental standard time). The DJ's are all volunteers with the freedom to determine the contents and to express their opinions on jazz themes. This results in an independent station free from commercial pressure.

Internet reception is also available (www.wnur.org) so people all over the world have access to their shows. In fact the station offers a multistreaming webcast service. Which means that WNUR offers the opportunity of live radio webcast, an internet-only live webcast and three additional webcasts consisting of recorded music specific to jazz. The WNUR's jazz webcast offers a compilation of a variety of jazz styles including performances recorded in the WNUR studios.

The content of the show ranges from a wide offer of jazz music to interviews and live performances by local and guest artists.

In their philosophy jazz is a music style that also incorporates the contemporary compositions with influences from electronic music, world music, blues, rock, soul and funk.

The daily "11.00 breaks" is a part of the broadcasted show in which close attention is given to albums, artists or jazz themes. They also organize contests to gain tickets for events in the Chicago jazz community.
