Teaching Staff Mobility

Every year, K.U.Leuven sends about 40 of its academic staff to spend a short time teaching in one of our ERASMUS partner institutions. In return, we welcome around 30 teachers from abroad.

Intensive Programmes

K.U.Leuven has always been very interested in intensive programmes. They offer an excellent opportunity to bring together a motivated group of students and teachers from accross Europe to discuss thoroughly and in depth a topic that might not be taught in the students' regular curriculum. An intensive programme allows students and teachers to interact with and learn from their counterparts in other countries, and to acquire expertise that might not be available at their home institutions. Over the past five years, K.U.Leuven has participated as a partner in dozens of intensive programmes and has coordinated the following seven:

  • Adult Education in Europe
  • Social Security in Europe
  • Solid-State Physics with Nuclear Techniques
  • Training seminar Experimental Social Psychology
  • Mathematical Psychology
  • Exercise and Sport Psychology
  • Politics and Patronage: National Identities in Irish Culture

Curriculum Development

Over the past five years, K.U.Leuven has been involved in the development of about a dozen new Master programmes, two projects for curriculum development on an intermediate level, and 4 European Modules. In addition, our university has coordinated the development of a "European Master Degree in Mathematical Psychology" and a "European Master's Degree in Applied Ethics", which has evolved out of the European Ethics Network (see below); of the European Modules "Youth and Adolescence: the European Dimension" and "European Seminar Sessions for Engineering Students at PhD level".

Thematic Networks

K.U.Leuven has been actively involved in a large number of Thematic Networks, and has coordinated the succesful European Ethics Network. It currently presides over a Thematic Network in the area of adapted physical activity: Educational and Social Integration of Persons with a Handicap through adapted physical activity.
