Specialisation grants for researchers from developing countries
Researchers from developing countries can apply to K.U.Leuven’s Interfaculty Council for Development Cooperatoin (IRO) for a grant that enables them to specialise in their field of study or to take an updating course.
The grants cover a period of three months at the most. K.U.Leuven graduates should have obtained their PhD at least three years before applying; graduates from other universities should have obtained their PhD at least five years before applying. Candidates must be employed by an institution in a developing country. The grants give the researchers the opportunity to update their knowledge and/or specialise in their field of education or research. Applicants should be no older than 50.
The candidates will be selected by IRO on the basis of their qualities and especially because of their scientific productivity and because of the educational activities they have performed since obtaining their PhD. Equally important is the relevance of their proposal for development co-operation. Efforts will be made to guarantee an equal representation of all the nationalities and K.U.Leuven faculties involved in the application process.
It should be noted that only the selected candidates will be able to receive a grant from IRO. This means that no allowances of any kind (travelling allowance, family allowance, tuition fee waiver) will be given to the selected candidate’s spouse or to his/her children.
Please fill in the form - rtf - 49 Kbytes. The document should be signed by the K.U.Leuven supervisor and by the dean of the host faculty and be sent to Martine Dekoninck.
