Training programmes for students and staff from developing countries

International Courses (ICPs)

VLIR-UOS offers scholarships for Master’s programmes that concentrate on specific problems in developing countries. Although the programmes are mainly directed towards students from developing countries, students from other countries may also take part.

International Courses are set up to train executives from the South. At the end of the course, participants should be able to apply the acquired knowledge in their country of origin.

International Training Programmes (ITPs)

An International Training Programme aims to enhance the participants’ expertise on a well-defined theme that is relevant to development co-operation. Afterwards, participants should be able to pass on both the knowledge they acquired and the skills they have developed over the course of the progamme, to the benefit of society in their country of origin.

ITPs are directed towards young scientists and professionals from developing countries. Applicants should hold a degree from an institution of higher education that proves three years of study.

Short Training Initiatives (STIs) 2012

The aim of a Short Training Initiative is to enhance the participants’ expertise on themes relevant to development co-operation. STIs only take 5 days at the least and 14 days at the most. Among the participants are scientists, professionals, civil servants and civil society representatives from developing countries.
