K.U.Leuven offers a wide range of programmes in English.
European Union
The European Commission wishes to stimulate higher education institutions in the EU to co-operate with other European partner institutions and with universities in Third Countries. To achieve this goal, several educational programmes have been set up. The programmes are basically multinational. Financial support is provided for joint projects and for the mobility of students and staff members.
Lifelong Learning Programme - Erasmus
The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) serves as an umbrella for a whole range of sub-programmes, representing all levels of education.
Erasmus is the sub-programme for higher education.
Erasmus Mundus
Erasmus Mundus wishes to promote Europe as a centre of educational excellence for students from all over the world. K.U.Leuven offers nine Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programmes and two Erasmus Mundus Doctorates.
Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window
The aim of this programme is to stimulate EU universities to set up partnerships and to organise institutional co-operation activities and mobility programmes with higher education institutions in the Mediterranean region, Eastern Europe, the Central Asian Republics and Yemen, Iraq and Iran, ACP countries, Western Balkans, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, India and regions in Asia.
Atlantis
Through Atlantis, the European Commission wishes to further the collaboration between institutions of higher education in the United States of America and the European Union. Financial support is provided for the organisation of transatlantic study programmes.
EU-Canada
The programme financially supports the joint efforts of European and Canadian higher education institutions to set up common study programmes.
Tempus IV
Tempus IV aims to further develop the higher education system in the EU Neighbouring Countries in Eastern and South-East Europe and in the Mediterranean region. The collaboration with partner institutions in the European Union should enhance the process of social and economic transition in the participating countries.
Alfa
Alfa was set up to further the collaboration between higher education institutions in Europe and Latin America.
Industrialised Countries Instrument Education Cooperation Programme (ICI)
The Industrialised Countries Instrument (ICI) promotes co-operation between the European Union and seventeen industrialised and other high-income countries and territories in North America, the Asia-Pacific region and the Gulf region. One of the supported specific actions promotes "people-to-people links"; the aims are to enhance mutual understanding between cultures and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge.
Coimbra Group Hospitality Scheme
Young academics from Western Balkans and Ukraine can pay a two-month visit to K.U.Leuven to conduct research.
Coimbra Group Scholarships Programme for Ltin America
K.U.Leuven provides opportunities for young academics from Latin America to visit Leuven for a period varying from three to six months. In this way, the university annually welcomes three postdoctoral teachers and/or researchers to its staff.
