Selection procedures

  • November-December 2011: new online application form available for 2012-2013
  • 15th January 2012: application deadline
  • January-February 2012: All complete applications are submitted to the faculties concerned for assessment and ranking. Only the top three ranked candidates of every faculty qualify for the final selection round.
  • April 2012: The final selection of new scholarship students is undertaken by the Interfaculty Council for Development Co-operation and sent to the KU Leuven Board of Management for final approval. This selection is very severe and each year only around 14 new scholarships can be granted.
  • April-May 2012: The International Office of KU Leuven will prepare and send the official admission letters and scholarship attestations to the selected candidates.
  • May-August 2011: Selected candidates apply for their Belgian student visas and prepare for their travel to Leuven.
  • Early September 2012: Arrival in Leuven

If you are selected but are unable to accept the scholarship because of circumstances acceptable to the KU Leuven, you may re-apply the following year. Your re-application will be considered as a new application and will be evaluated as such together with the others. If you were not selected you may re-apply only once.
