Temporally and spatially resolved linear and nonlinear spectroscopy of nanostructured materials

Various combinations of lasers building setup blocks consistent of one or more lasers and corresponding detection scheme(s) are available thoughout the research groups. Using these, a number of different measurement types are possible. In most cases, the setups are clustered in one dedicated laser laboratory. Besides improved operation conditions this has the advantage of easier change of a laser source in a planned experiment.

The following laser and corresponding detection setups are available:

bullet

Femtosecond pump-probe system

bullet

High power Ti:sapphire amplifier system

bullet

Fs pump laser system for an optical parametric oscillator

bullet

Nanosecond Nd:YAG laser system

bullet

Picosecond system for imaging and single photon timing

Detailed information about these setups and their use are provided hereunder. They can be listed according to their technical principle or along the possible measurement types.

The general priciples of  use are jointly determined by Peter Lievens, Thierry Verbiest, Johan Hofkens, Koen Clays, Mark van der Auweraer and Gerd Schweitzer. Additionally, for each apparatus on-site responsibles are available for the coordination of the day-to-day use.

Potential users of  one of the apparatuses  should contact one of the persons listed above to discuss scientific and technical aspects of the planned use and to determine the apparatus that is most appropriate for their planned research. After that, they will be directed to persons responsible for each apparatus for further details including, e.g., measurement prerequisits, schedules, etc. Of course, scientists from within one of the research groups involved can directly contact the setup responsibles.

Due to the fact that the various setups are greatly different in their complexity, they require different ways of planning and operation. For details refer to the information given on the corresponding setup information page.
