Loyola International Nachbahr Huis
Loyola
International Nachbahr Huis is a student residence where students of
different nationalities live together. The residence is located in the
center of Leuven, in a 17th century convent. One wing of the Black Nun's
Convent was restored in 1991-1992 by Loyola College in Maryland, a Jesuit
university from which every academic year a group of around 30 students come
to study a year abroad at the K.U. Leuven. These students live together with
approximately 35 mostly European students (Belgians, Italians, Spanish,
Polish, Irish, etc...).
The residence has 43 rooms (23 single, 16 double and 4 triple rooms), where 67 students (male and female) can live. They are split up in 6 units of 7 to 15 students. Each unit has its own kitchen that is equipped with refrigerators, a stove, micro- wave oven and all necessary kitchen utensils (pots, pans,...). Also every resident has his/her own kitchen cabinet that can be locked. Each unit also has one or two bathrooms with 2 showers and a toilet. In total there are 9 bathrooms, 3 on each floor.
Furthermore the residence has a TV/reading room for recreational purposes, a study room, 1 computer room where 3 personal computers and printers are at the students' disposal, all of which have internet access. Every room has internet access too. There is also a laundry room with a washer and a dryer. An iron, iron board and vacuum cleaner can be obtained at the secretariat.
Each floor has a telephone for incoming calls and there is one public phone in the house for outgoing calls.
There is a garden with benches and tables and a barbecue is also available.
Foreign students can rent blankets, sheets, towels and dinnerware during their stay in the house.
