IME 2011

Right after this conference, the University of Trieste hosts the 15th IME Congress from June 14 to 17. For participants who want to attend both conferences, we gathered some useful information on how to get from Leuven to Trieste.

Flying to Trieste

One possible route is Brussels - Munich - Trieste with Lufthansa. From Munich to Trieste there are 4-5 Lufthansa Regional flights per day, operated by AirDolomiti. As the planes have only 45 to 70 seats, you have to book as soon as possible.

An alternative route is Brussels - Rome - Trieste with Alitalia. Note however that Rome airport is crowded and you have to go towards South and then return to North.

There are also direct low-cost flights with Ryanair from Charleroi to Trieste, but these are only on Wednesday and Sunday. To get to Charleroi airport, you can take a train to Brussels South (30 min) and then take the shuttle bus (1 hour).

From Leuven to Trieste via Venice

Several airline companies (Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss, ...) connect Brussels to Marco Polo Airport in Venice. Once at Marco Polo Airport, the easiest way to get to Trieste is to reach Venezia Mestre Train Station by bus (20 min) and to get a train to Trieste Central Station (2 hours). See http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/ for timetables.

There are also daily Ryanair flights from Charleroi to Treviso airport in Venice. The shuttle bus takes you from this airport to Venezia Mestre Train Station in 45 min.
