How to get to Leuven

Leuven is about 25 km east of Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the centre of the European Union. Do not confuse Leuven (Louvain) with Louvain-la-Neuve, about 30 km south-west of Leuven.

Most intercontinental and international flights arrive at Brussels Airport (Zaventem), which is located between Brussels and Leuven. The easiest and cheapest way to get to Leuven from Brussels Airport is by train. The train station is located in the basement (level −1) of the airport terminal building itself. The trip takes about 15 minutes and costs 5.35 euro.

Moving around in Leuven

The University Hall is located in the center of Leuven, at the Naamsestraat 22. The Faculty Club is at walking distance at the Groot Begijnhof 14.

The railway station is situated at 1 km of the city centre. Most college buildings in the centre of the city are situated at an acceptable walking distance from the railway station (max. 2 km). Take the Bondgenotenlaan in front of the railway station and walk straight ahead until you reach the townhall (after about 800 meters). There you turn left into the Naamsestraat which you follow for about 150 meters until you arrive at the University Hall (nr 22).

Almost all bus connections in and around Leuven have a stop at the railway station and pass through the city centre. You can buy a ticket on the bus for 2 euro (presale 1.2 euro). There are also taxis at the station.
