Doelstelling

Stimuleren van en bekendheid geven aan het onderzoeksprogramma Respiratoire Oncologie (Dienst Pneumologie) van het UZ Leuven en de Leuven Lung Cancer Group.


The Clinical Trial Unit of the Leuven Lung Cancer Group focuses on different aspects of clinical research in respiratory malignancies (non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, an mesothelioma), in close contact with other European and North American centres. Important research branches are: 1/ optimisation of staging algorithms and the use of FDG-PET; 2/ optimisation of combined modality treatments in early-stage and locally advanced stage; phase 1/2, phase 2 and phase 3 trials in the development of new chemotherapeutic agents or schedules; 3/ phase 1/2, phase 2 and phase 3 trials in molecular biological treatment approaches; 4/phase 2 and 3 trials in supportive care; phase 2 and 3 trials in mesothelioma).
