Content
After a brief introduction on the renewal of catholic religious life in the 16th century, the development of catholic spirituality is presented, starting with 17th-century France. Special attention is paid to: devout humanism; the spirituality of the French School; Jansenism; Quietism; spirituality in the age of Enlightenment; spiritual currents in the context of 19th-century popular catholicism (such as devotion to the Sacred Heart, eucharistic spirituality, marian spirituality).
