After a careful analysis of the notions ‘theology’, ‘law’ and ‘canon law’ a general overview is presented of the passed and present-day theories with regard to the foundations of a law system in a community of faithful in general and in the Roman-Catholic Church in particular.
After this a monograph or several chapters of books of different authors are discussed in class.   

Course Material

All students must have a Code of Canon Law (Codex Iuris Canonici 1983, Latin-English edition) at their disposal.
A reader, annually prepared and edited, contains the necessary study material.

Course activities

The teaching activities about this subject consist of weekly lectures during one semester.
