"Quarterly Meeting of OPTEC Working Group 3 on Parameter and State Estimation"

Agenda:
- 09.00-09.10: Welcome and agenda
- 09.10-09.25: Update
- 09.25-09.45: Estimation in biomedical applications by D. Sima
- 09.50-10.00: Break
- 10.00-10.50: Start-up of book reading
- 10.50-11.00: Varia

This meeting we will start-up the reading group. The aim of the reading
group is to read and discuss togehter some standard references in the field.
The following books have been proposed.
- System Identification: a frequency approach by Pintelon en Schoukens
- Inverse problem theory and methods for model parameter
estimation by Tarantola
- Pattern Recogition and Machine Learning by Bishop
- Identification of parametric models by Walter en Pronzato
Hence, as we will make a selection on Thursday, everyone is warmly
encouraged to join.

Newsflash

Two OPTEC professors have been awarded three "Gouden Krijtjes", the yearly teaching awards given by the organization of engineering students (vtk). Prof. Lombaert was awarded the prize for the best course in civil engineering, and Prof. Diehl the prizes for the best professor and the best course in mathematical engineering (where he teaches numerical optimization). They received these awards at the yearly "proffentap" where experienced students taught them how to draft beer professionally.
