The research team of OPTEC was awarded renewed and generous funding until 2017 and is looking for enthusiastic researchers with a creative and open mind. You are fluent in English, have excellent communication skills, and a background in engineering, computer science or mathematics. PhD and Postdoc positions

Besides a competitive salary we offer a stimulating research environment within our growing Center of Excellence on Optimization in Engineering, OPTEC. OPTEC is well connected internationally with several high ranking international visitors every month, and encompasses groups from five different departments of K.U. Leuven [Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Computer Science]. OPTEC combines altogether 20 professors, 12 postdocs, and more than 50 PhD students that jointly work on bringing state-of-the-art optimization methods together with real-world engineering applications.

OPTEC offers several job student positions for undergraduates who work on little projects within our interdisciplinary research team. This offers you the opportunity to gain extra-curricular research experience and to obtain valuable additional skills for your academic career. These projects usually comprise 4 to 6 weeks reasonably paid full-time work during the summer holidays and will be supervised by a PhD student or postdoc from OPTEC.

Johan Suykens has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant. 

The ERC Project is entitled "A-DATADRIVE-B: Advanced Data-Driven Black-box modelling" and will in the coming 5 years considerably reinforce the research of OPTEC's working group 2 on Data Driven Modelling, which is led by Johan Suykens. More info can be found on
