Householder Award for Bart Vandereycken

Bart Vandereycken has received the prestigious Householder Award.  This award is given only once every three years, and Bart received it during the 18th Householder Symposium in Tahoe, California, for his PhD thesis on "Riemannian and multilevel optimization for rank-constrained matrix problems". Bart wrote this thesis as an OPTEC member in the Computer Science department of the K.U.Leuven, with advisor Stefan Vandewalle. He was initially on a fellowship of the Fund for Scientific Research (FWO) and afterwards on an OPTEC fellowship.  In January 2011, he became a postdoctoral researcher at the Seminar for Applied Mathematics at ETH Zurich.
