OPTEC this week: Bemporad, SIGs, Skating

Dear OPTEC Members and Friends,

1) this week OPTEC has a famous guest, Prof. A. Bemporad,
world wide known for his contributions in the field of
Model Predictive Control. He visits us all Thursday and Friday and
gives a Lecture on Friday at 13:30 in FMTC (in MECH Building),
to which FMTC and OPTEC would
very warmly like to invite you. Please see below.

2) Today,
there is at 14:00 a presentation of 2 Special Interest Groups related to WG2.

3) And for those of you that like skating, you are invited to join a group of
skaters in my team on Wednesday evening at Ijsbaan, Ondernemingenweg 1,
Heverlee, they provide skates, please doodle before tonight:

Two OPTEC professors have been awarded three "Gouden Krijtjes", the yearly teaching awards given by the organization of engineering students (vtk). Prof. Lombaert was awarded the prize for the best course in civil engineering, and Prof. Diehl the prizes for the best professor and the best course in mathematical engineering (where he teaches numerical optimization). They received these awards at the yearly "proffentap" where experienced students taught them how to draft beer professionally.
