Tenure track vacancies in senior academic staff

Some of the vacancies for senior academic staff are specified as tenure track vacancies. Tenure track offers young researchers the opportunity to prove themselves as assistant professors (docent). After five years, they will be evaluated according to well-defined criteria. In case of a positive assessment, they will be tenured as associate professor (hoofddocent).

The application and selection procedures are the same as for regular senior academic staff positions.

To be eligible for certain tenure track positions (exclusively funded by the Flemish Government), the candidates should have obtained their PhD less than 7 years before the start of the appointment. However, appointments in tenure track preferably take place earlier in a career.
