Senior Academic Staff
The recruitment process for senior academic staff is organized as follows:
Phase 1:
- Assessment of applications by advisory committees at faculty level.
- Interviews and/or seminars for short-listed candidates.
- Advisory committees write reports in December 2011 (1st list 2012-2013).
Phase 2:
- Assessment of the advisory committees’ reports and the applicants’ files by the deans of faculty and the vice-rectors.
- Appointment decisions are made during a special session of the Academic Council in February (1st list 2012-2013).
Phase 3:
- Applicants are notified in writing about the outcome of the decisions.
Assistant or Associate Academic Staff
If you apply for a function as an assistant or associate academic staff (AAP-BAP), you must submit your application before the final submission date. You will find this date on the vacancy list. Your data will be visible to the concerned head of department immediately after the expiry of the submission deadline.
The complete selection procedure is carried out by the concerned department. This means that the selection and the interview do not occur through the Human Resources Department, but through the department head. After that, you will receive a notice from the Human Resources Department. If you are selected for the function, the concerned HR consultant will begin the hiring procedure.
Management and support
For management and support positions held by administrative and technical staff, selection procedure consists of the following three steps:
In the first selection round, your application is reviewed by the HR consultant or recruitment adviser and the department head concerned. On the basis of the selection criteria (e.g. qualifiations), the HR consultant or recruitment adviser and the department head determine whether you will be invited to participate in the next stage of the selection procedure and a shortlist of candidates is drawn up.
The next step is the selection interview conducted by a selection committee including the head of department and the recruitment adviser.
After or prior to the interview, job specific tests may be conducted via an automated testing system (Cebir) in addition to a written or practical test.
Your test results will be discussed with the head of department concerned . On the basis of these results, it will be decided whether you can go through to the next round . If you wish, you can discuss your test(s) with a member of the HR Department.
The final selection is usually made on the basis of one or more interviews with a more extensive selection committee.
In the case of positions requiring leadership skills and / or certain personality characteristics, the final selection stage may involve a personality assessment.
Your application will be treated confidentially, and we will keep you informed of your tests results and and of the different stages in the application process.
The duration of the selection procedure depends on a number of factors, such as availability of the candidates and the selection committee. The HR Department tries to ensure that all applications are dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible.
