Flexibele 3D-reconstructie van beeldsequenties op meerdere schalen

This dissertation deals with the problem of recovering the camera
calibration and the 3D reconstruction of a scene from uncalibrated images
of this scene, usually referred to as "Structure and Motion" recovery
or SaM. This work gives an overview of SaM theory and techniques. It
discusses several design choices, implementation issues and algorithmic
improvements to arrive at a robust and efficient system that can deal with
many problems and issues that typically arise. Many real-life examples are
given as well as applications in a wide gamut of fields: from laboratory
conditions, over cultural heritage applications to planetary exploration.
