Imaging through metamaterials.
|
|
Metamaterials are artificially engineered materials that exhibit electromagnetic properties which are not readily available in nature. One of the most studied material classes in this field are the so-called Negative Index Materials, which show negative values for the permittibity and permeability in a certain wavelength range, giving rise to a negative index of refraction. The materials can be applied for application in microscopy, optical data storage or lithography. In this project, different kinds of metamaterials are realized by using self-assembly and self-assembled nanoparticles, contrary to traditional top-down processing technologies. This allows to fabricate structures with new geometries and low fabrication costs, for a variety of applications.
