Doctoral research project

Person in charge of the project:
DE MEYER CHRISTINA, member of research team Associated Section of ESAT - INSYS, Integrated Systems
Co-promotor(s):
WITVROUW ANN
Title:
NEMS switches
Project summary:
Keeping on the conventional CMOS scaling will result in increasing the leakage power unmanageably and subsequently a lot of power dissipation. this kind of exponentially current increasing is related to the limited subthreshold slope of conventional CMOS transistors, people are looking for some novel devices which have steeper subthreshold slope. It seems that the miniaturized mechanical switches are one the most proper candidates for replacing the transistors specially in the applications which it is needed to minimize the leakage power for increasing lifetime.
