|
|
According to cultivation theory watching television fiction influences viewers' perceptions of reality. Because television fiction pretends to be realistic it is difficult to distinguish between what is learned from TV and the real world. This study looks at subjects with no previous direct experience with the United States and divides them into experimental groups. By exposing some groups to realistic American television fiction and others to other types of fiction they have not seen bedore questions regarding the distinction between direct experience and mediated experience will be addressed.
