Our purpose is to investigate the current internal and external communication flows within the town of Lanaken and work to improve the communication patterns. Concerning internal communication, the different communication flows will be evaluated using a SWOT analysis. Specifically, we will take a closer look at communication from the bottom up, from the top down, the diagonal and parallel communication. We will also work to discover whether there are specific needs among the town personnel concerning the town's internal communication and what those involved feel would improve the system. Concerning the town's external communication we will take a closer look at which information the town council should provide to its citizens, which services are best suitable to communicate certain information, whether or not the existing media channels are used appropriately and which additional communication tools could be used. We will also ask the opinion of the citizens of Lanaken about their town's communication policy; they can express their need and make suggestions for improvement.
