Shaping Art Criticism for creative, professional and academic practise.

This project intends an optimalisation of the OPO Kunstkritiek (Art Criticism) in 3BA Kunstwetenschappen (Art History), into an intensive and goal-oriented, scientifically founded practical seminar that actively takes into account the professional expectations in the working field of Art criticism. The main intention is to maximally develop the OPO towards a teaching environment that allows participating students, in their later professional life as art historians, to develop a creative discursive practice. In this OPO, skills are developed that are not addressed elsewhere in the art history curriculum at KULeuven and not even in similar programs at other Flemish universities. Finally, the OPO anticipates a possibble academic development : it can be expected that Art Critical writing practise will develop towards a field in which doctoral promotions are possible.
