Research covers the problem of the foundation of ethics and the social dimension of ethical issues. Seminars on these topics are regularly organized. Current projects: - Historical studies on the moral philosophy of Aristotle, Thomas Kant, Hegel. - Contemporary philosophical approaches (Lévinas, Habermas, Lyotard). - The just distribution of wealth. - The essence of political power. - Subjective freedom, human rights, tolerance, liberalism and communitarianism. - Theory of democracy. Nation and nationalism. - The respect for life, birth and death in the context of modern biomedical science. - An historical enquiry about the structure and metaphysical import of subjectivity in German Idealism, in confrontation with contemporary subject-critical tendencies.
