MINIATURE ART - Study of book illumination in the Netherlands (ca 1370-1470) - Creation and extension of a documentation center concerning miniature art from the mentioned period (bibliographic and archival documentation, library of photographs and diapositives, card-index...). - Promotion of interdisciplinary contacts and of the exchange of results ('Center for the study of the illuminated manuscript in the Netherlands'. TAPESTRY - A critical dictionary of marks, monograms and signatures on Flemish tapestry, in collaboration with 'Kunsthistorisches Museum', Vienna and 'C.I.E.T.A.', Lyon. PAINTING - Study of the Flemish Primitives. - Flemish painting in the 17th century, with the accent on Rubens, Van Dijck and their contemporaries. - Women Artists from Belgium and the Netherlands, 1500-1950 - Flemish and Dutch portraiture, 1500-1700 (in preparation of an exhibition to be held in Antwerp, Royal Museum and Haarlem, Frans Halsmuseum, 2000-2001). - Art 20th Century: the dynamic character of genres and categories, and their theoretical-philosophical context. AESTHETICS AND ART CRITICISM: - Problems concerning the scientific theory of art history. - The concept-apparatus, the theoretical, literary-rhetorical and ideological character of texts in art criticism. SCULPTURE - Study of Brabantine and Flemish Sculpture of the 15th Century. - Ecclesiastical sculpture and church furniture of the Norbertines, after the Council of Trento, in relation to the counter-reformation. PHOTOGRAPHY - History of photography with accentuation of its role in the visual art from 1945 onward.
