Cord Blood Bank

BANKING:

Leuvencord (De Leuvense Navelstrengbloedbank) is the Cord Blood Registry and Banking Facility of the Department of Hematology of the University Hospital Leuven. The bank was established in 1997, and has currently banked over 6500 cord blood units that are ready to be transplanted anywhere in the world. We are a member of Netcord.

RESEARCH:

As only clinically suitable units are banked, additional not clinically suitable units are available for research purposes. All donations are following informed consent of the donor, approved by the Ethics Committee of the University Hospitals, Leuven. Besides banking cord blood units for clinical transplantation, Leuvencord is committed to develop and validate new processing and storing techniques.
