Cardiovascular Program
In this program, investigators under the direction of Dr. S. JANSSENS are
The following goals are being pursued:
- Testing how autologous stem cells improve cardiac function, focusing on endothelial progenitor cells, mesoangioblasts, and mesenchymal stem cells
- Determining which trophic effects are elaborated by these cells, focusing on modification of mitochondrial functions and / or NO-cGMP signal transduction
- Characterizing the phenotype and function of autologous stem cells in elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases
- Generating models of cardiomyopathy using the iPSC technology
