Training

Spekul makes sure that new members recieve a good training. Every year, in october, a new training program starts. The training consists of practices in techniques in the sportcentre and outdoor training in Belgian and French caves. 

1. Techniques

When & Where: every wednesday at 20h in the Gymnasium of the sportcentre of KULeuven. (look at a map)
Only during the "24u loop" and the marathon, we meet at Spekul.

2. Practice

When & Where : Every wednesday, during our clubmeeting, we make appointments about weekend activities. You can take a look at our updated agenda.

Sometimes, we go practices outside, like for example in Senzeille.



 

3. Material

In this table, you can find an overview of the material you need if you want to join initiations into caves.

 

  An overall (or else a strong plastic jacket and pants; 
                   be aware that they can and probably will get wet and dirty) 
  Boots/Wellingtons 
  2 sets (one spare set as backup) of 3 AAA Batteries (preferable Duracells) for the LED-light on the helmet  
  When you plan to do a lot of caving as a starter, 6 rechargeable AAA NiMh batteries are preferable 
  Warm underclothing 
  Some lunch 
  Big plastic bag for your dirty clothes 
  Dry clothes for after the cave!!! 
  All other gear (harnass, technical gear and helmet) is available at the club 
  Washing of the lended material is mandatory!!!

5. Further training

After the first year of training, you can get more specialised trainings at VVS, organised by "werkgroep speleologische vorming".
