About the cave pearl on our home page

This pearl was found on our third Vietnam expedition of 1997, among several others.

These pearls are large and almost perfectly rounded. They are over 10 cm in diameter laying on white, nest-like flowstone in the middle of a dark coloured fossil cave. We called them ‘dragon eggs’. One pearl was taken out of the cave for measuring and photographing, and brought back where it belongs.
