Changes to the study contract

Students can make the following changes with the permission of the International Admissions and Mobility Unit. Please also consult the Regulations on Education.

  • Changes to the contract type
  • Changes to the contents of a contract
  • Changes to the programme
  • Financial consequences - For changes to the contract type, the fixed amount becomes that of the most recent contract, and the variable amount is calculated per semester.
    • From diploma contract to exam contract:
      • Basic amount: exam rate
      • Variable amount: only the second-semester courses are calculated at the exam rate. The first-semester courses and the year courses remain calculated at the diploma rate.
    • From exam contract to diploma contract:
      • Basic amount: diploma rate
      • Variable amount: the first-semester courses will be calculated at the exam rate. The second-semester courses and the year courses will be calculated at the diploma rate.
    - For changes to programmes during the first semester, the recalculation is based on the number of study points that the student effectively has taken within the newly-registered programme.
Students who wish to change their programme after the first semester pay the amount of the new registration as the basic amount, and, as a variable amount, the course units taken in the new and the withdrawn programmes.

Withdrawal from an additional programme

A student who is registered for more than one programme can withdraw from one of these via a student’s written request or a tender in person. The registration fees are recalculated as follows:

  • During the first semester, the student only pays for the remaining programme(s).
  • After the first semester, the student will pay for the course units that were completed for the withdrawn programme (first-semester courses).

Cessation of studies

  • International Admissions and Mobility Unit
You have to go to the International Admissions and Mobility Unit first, for more information concerning ceasing your studies and the social consequences of doing so.
  • Withdrawal
After consent from the International Admissions and Mobility Unit you have to contact Registrar's Office for your withdrawal . Withdrawal only occurs via a student’s written request or a tender in person, and is subject to the handing-over of your student card, bus pass, and the attestations received from the university. You will then receive proof of withdrawal, which you can use to arrange your affairs as necessary.
  • Financial consequences in 2011-2012
If you definitively leave the university:
    • Before November 1: The fixed amount of € 63 is withheld
    • From November till February 28th: €320,9 is withheld for a full-time registration
    • As of March 1: the complete registration fee is owed and there is no longer any refund.

This is not applicable for registration fees collected by the programme, ILT or the International Admissions and Mobility Unit (see special registration categories)
