Leuven is a small but lively city with a population of about 46 000 students. Student life is fully integrated into the local community.
Leuven offers a wide range of housing options at reasonable prices. Most KU Leuven-students stay in individual rooms with shared facilities in houses on the local private housing market.
Housing in university residence halls or dorms is limited.
Assistance with all student housing issues is provided by the University Housing Service.
Before Arrival
Before departure to Leuven it is necessary to arrange guesthousing for a few nights since it is not possible to move into a permanent room immediately.
Upon Arrival
Once in Leuven and settled in a temporary guestroom, international students should go immediately to the Housing Service where they will be given information and guided through the procedure to find permanent housing.
The room hunt will take a few days but most international students will find their new home in Leuven within about a week.
