Wanted M/F with talent for living together

Assisted Living Accommodation

Assisted Living Accommodation is an initiative of the Student services KU Leuven. Assisted Living Accommodation offers students with and without a functional impairment the opportunity to stay together, to live and study in Leuven.

For whom?

The Assisted Living Support (‘Omkadering’) is organised for students with and without a functional impairment, studying at KU Leuven.

How does an assisted living support group work

Before the start of the academic year, the Assisted Living Accommodation Advisor meets with the student with a functional impairment to make an assessment of his/her need for assistance. On the basis of this, the Advisor composes the assisted living support group along with the student.

Three key concepts sum up the actual working of an assisted living support group: 24-hour availability, assistance and voluntary commitment.

Why choose for assisted living?

Assisted Living Accommodation also offers a student with a functional impairment the chance to stay, live, study and carry out leisure activities independently in the normal student environment.

For student volunteers, Assisted Living Accommodation offers various experiences. This process of ‘just living together’ challenges your practical and social skills, your views of and feelings towards peers with a functional impairment.

Where?

Assisted Living is organised in about 18 different groups, spread over 10 different subsidised residential facilities owned by KU Leuven, aswel in Heverlee as in Leuven.

Cost?

Those participating in the Assisted Living Support programme can stay in a subsidised residential facility of KU Leuven, at a subsidised rent.
