Career Guidance KU Leuven

The Study Advice Service KU Leuven organises several activities which prepares last year students of KU Leuven for their future career.

Jobdatabase

The jobdatabase helps students and alumni to find matching jobs and employers. 
Employers can enter information about jobvacancies and internships.  On the basis of the job description they can also browse the CV's which were placed by jobseekers in this database. 
Students and alumni can post their CV in this database and find matching workopportunies.

Information Sesssions

A number of information evenings presents you a picture of jobpossibilities, career expectations and application procedures in different sectors of labourmarket.  Since part of these activities concerns local labour market, these informationsessions are presented in Dutch.
The information evening about working in EU- and UN-institutions is presented in English.

Jobfair

Tuesday 28 February 2012 from 01:00 till 07:00 p.m. building De Nayer (Campus Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences )

HR-officers of Belgian and international companies give information about career possibilities and selection procedures.  In cooperation with the EURES-department of the Flemish Public Employment Agency special attention is paid to career possibilities on the European Labour Market.

Working in Europe

Individual advice

An EURES-counsellor of the international section of the Flemish public employment agency VDAB will be present in the offices of the Study Advice Service on 23th February 2012, 20th March 2012 and 25th April 2012.

Students who are looking for individual advice (in Dutch and/or English) about international career possibilities can make an appointment with this counsellor.  Prior registration is necessary through the Study Advice service.

Jobapplication

The Study Advice Service organises a Dutch-language interactive training session in order to prepare students for the job application process .  On demand an English-language session can be organised. 

Working in Belgium

Information evening: Thursday 23th February 2012 – 7 P.M. - aud. Zeger Van Hee, Tiensestraat 41, 3000 Leuven

This information evening addresses to international EU-students at KU Leuven who are interested in applying for jobs at the local labour market.  Information will be presented about

  • Belgian labour policy (working permit, working conditions, general requirements, recognition of qualifications, …)
  • How to find jobannouncements
  • How to write an effective CV and covering letter
  • Tips and tricks for the interview

This evening is organised in cooperation with the Flemish Public Employment Agency - VDAB

Working in (Belgian) diplomacy, EU and UN-organisation

Information evening: Tuesday 20th March 2012 – 7 P.M. - aud. Max Weber, Parkstraat 51, 3000 Leuven

During the first part of the evening information about working in (Belgian) diplomacy will be presented. This information will be presented in Dutch The second part will provide information about working in EU en UN-services. Language of this second part is English

Between and after the sessions you can visit information stands of AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l´Europe), EURES (European Employment Services), Europe Direct, the Association for International Affairs (KIB) and YEF (Young European Federalists). There is also possibility for more informal contact with the speakers.

This evening is organised in cooperation with the Liaison Agency Flanders Europe.

Success in the US

An information session for students and researchers about studying, doing research or being trained in the United States. Presentations will be in English, the panel discussion will be in Dutch, though questions can be put in English.
